FAWDE functions as the research and production center for diesel engines within the FAW Group.

It is known for its strong independent research and development capabilities and has established “five independent R&D systems” and technology platforms focused on areas like energy-saving, environmental protection, and e-intelligence technology.

The company is notable for being the only enterprise in the Chinese diesel engine industry that possesses various core technologies such as VCU (Vehicle Control Unit) and engine braking systems.

It was also the first enterprise in China to successfully develop and promote four-valve diesel engines and electronic-controlled common-rail diesel engines.

FAWDE has multiple plant areas, including two large engine bases, and has formed an R&D layout across Wuxi, Changchun, and Dalian. Domestically, it has been recognized with the “First Prize for National Science and Technology Progress.
